SHIPPING OF DONATED SCHOOL FURNITURE TO AFRICAN COUNTRIES
Our current humanitarian efforts involve the donation of high-end, surplus furniture (desks, chairs, cabinets, whiteboards and other items) for use in schools, libraries and other public sector locations. Click here to see our gallery.
A joint venture of this type requires three things:
- Appropriate government signature on a Memorandum of Understanding;
- Written Government agreement to exempt container fees and taxes at the Port of Entry; and
- Written Government agreement to pay shipping and associated costs from the port of departure (Seattle, Washington) to the port of entry in receiving Country.
To date, we have donated 6 forty-foot containers to the port of Banjul, Gambia and another 7 containers to the port of Dakar, Senegal. We have also sent a total of 30 containers to Tanzania (10 to Zanzibar and 20 to Dar es Salaam). Additional countries pending are Ghana, Cameroon and Guinea.
